To any new members: Welcome!

Hi all! I moved to North Idaho from Colorado 3 years ago. I absolutely love it here!!! I’ve skied, snowboarded, snowshoed, boot-packed and sledded for most of my life (I’m 47). I never really gave much thought about touring or splitboarding until recently. I feel I’m at a point in my life where I need broaden my horizons a bit and start getting out beyond the resort a lil more! Natural progression, right?

I know I have a lot to learn and this site looks like the right place to start!!!

Cheers and thank you!

Greetings!

I'm new to the back country experience, but I'm excited to get some turns in this winter. I've been snowboarding for a while now, and just recently was able to get into a splitboard set up. I had been wanting to get into touring for some time, so I'm stoked to start. I'll be doing my level 1 avalanche course this winter, but in the meantime I look forward to learning what I can from you fine folks.

Winter is probably my favorite time of the year (skate skiing, snowshoeing, snowboarding & hockey!), but in the summer months I enjoy chasing trout with my fly rod, backpacking and distance running. I'm excited to see what the mountains outside of the resorts have to offer!

Thanks!
- Kevin

Hey Hey Hey!

Super stoked on this site and the great community that seems to be using it! I am new to Spokane from the Northeast (where backcountry skiing and boarding are thriving!). Really excited to hopefully meet some of you folks and share good conversations on the skin track, face shots, and beers. A little bit about myself - 27 yo male, 5 seasons backcountry skiing, reliable, AIARE Lvl 1, love a good sufferfest, and just downright stoked on playing in the snow. Give me a shout if you're searching for a new touring partner or wouldn't mind showing the new guy in town where to look for the goods - I got your first beer. Hope to see all of you out there once the white stuff starts flying in earnest.

Cheers,
Cory

Hey guys, I'm new here and new to the area! I have been an avid snowboarder (and skier) for over 25 years but have never been split boarding or in the back country for that matter. I have a season pass to silver mt this year but I plan on working on getting geared up for the backcountry and taking one of the upcoming avy classes this winter (found through this amazing site!) I have a lot to learn from you guys and gals!

I am also a photographer, filmmaker, drone nerd, not afraid to get his equipment cold and dirty, hoping to meet some of you guys and gals soon!

Ryan
Hello Ryan,

Welcome to the Panhandle. Super nice up here. See you at Silver!

Careful PP remember the 14/15 El Nino Winter, there has been quite a few new peeps arriving. Hopefully it is anything but a 14/15 repeat. Happy to show the sidecountry of Silver to any who ask.

Hi all,

Looking to move to Sandpoint in 2019 from Leavenworth, wa. Some of you might know me from TGR. After living in Washington my entire life and Leavenworth for 10 years I'm excited to ski in a new place.

I'll admit that I'm addicted to chairlifts but I do tour on occasion.

Looking forward to skiing with and meeting all of you.

Hi PanhandleBackcountry Community,

My name is Carl Segerstrom. I am an avid skier and environmental journalist based in Spokane. A couple years ago I got touring gear but I have yet to use it and am hoping that meeting up with some people here will help give me the push I need to get out into the backcountry. I like to ski most everything (trees, chutes, bowls) and am an advanced downhill skier, but have yet to go for a skin trip. I look forward to getting to know people through this website and getting out into the backcountry.

Here's to hoping the snow gods smile upon is this winter!

Hi Everybody! I'm excited to join this great group of people with shared interest in the backcountry. I'm originally from the Moscow area and excited to be coming back after a long time on the east coast for school and residency (ER physician). I grew up skiing all over North Idaho and Montana and only recently have gotten into touring. Got my AIARE I last year and am excited to keep learning and expanding my group of touring partners. Thanks for setting up a great site and community for people!

Hey there, My name is Zak Silver and Im out of Spokane, Wa. I am currently a student pursuing nursing and looking to get started in my first season of backcountry skiing. I have been skiing for two years and have skied all of local area's and feel confident with my overall ability. But that doesn't mean I'm an all knowing, all spraying skier. I have a ton to learn about the safety and skiing in general. I am a climber by nature and totally understand the idea of constant growth. I would really like to connect with some people to ski the lookout area as much as possible. Excited for the season and the awesome SNOW! Thanks!

Hello, decided this was the year I would expand my horizon and get off the resorts. I have alot of front country ski experience. I have signed up for an avalanche course in Feb, and plan to jam on Mt Spokane's uphill-skinning tracking this year. I am also looking for people to connect with for some local touring and mentoring. Great site
