To any new members: Welcome!

Hi folks! My wife and I just made arrangements to stay in Kellogg this coming February and March. We are long-time skiers and ski patrollers from the east coast. We have a significant amount of mountain travel and rescue experience, along with Avalanche Awareness and Avy Level I. If anyone has suggestions for backcountry skiing close to Kellogg, we would love to hear from you. Thanks, Scott

Plenty of short lap skiing around the resort boundaries. Otherwise head up the highway towards Wallace, Mullan and Lookout Pass where you can probably ski from your car in Feb/March. Make a post when you are in town, several members, myself included, are Silver skiers and would be glad to show you around.

Found this forum after chatting with some guys at silver mountain last winter. Just moved to Spokane in 2020 from the big mountains of northern Wisconsin… I’m 23 and wanna start touring. I’ve been downhill skiing since I was 6 and cross country skied a lot while I was younger. Taking my avalanche classes this winter and wanna meet some rad homies that earn their turns! Don’t plan on touring this year but wanna absorb as much knowledge as I can this winter! This forum seems like it has a lot of great data and I wanna learn from the best. If nothing else just hit me up if you wanna ski or drink beers while we talk about skiing!

Hey folks! I’m new to this forum and pretty new to splitboarding too. I’ve been riding for about 9 years but only the last 2 have been mostly splitboarding. I haven’t gone anywhere super crazy yet, only tiger, training grounds, little blue, and Schweitzer (when they were closed for Covid lol). I have an airbag, transceiver, probe and shovel, but no official avalanche training. I do have “some” knowledge and experience from the little backcountry I have done but definitely not enough. I looked at the tab for safety courses coming up, but if anyone knows of any that are sooner than January let me know! Any suggestions or knowledge/experience anyone wants to pass down it definitely welcome! Thanks!

Avid resort skier, getting into the backcountry for the first time this year. Any tips or information on North Idaho backcountry spots or how you go about determining where your next line will be is much appreciated!

thanks for creating the site. I'm a missoula based skier but always searching for other places besides the local haunts to ski. I frequent the Lochsa area a lot so if anyone wants intel on that area hit me up.

Hey Everybody! I've been snowboarding for the past 6 years and just recently got a splitboard to start learning the ropes. I'm located in Spokane Washington and am looking to learn and make friends! I'm looking to sign up for an Avy course soon so any recommendations would be welcome!

Thanks for setting this up. I have been focused on the Cascades for years but now want to explore the panhandle. Happy to connect up with small groups as I mostly have ski buddies out of Western WA.

Hi everyone!

Jon here. My wife, Ashley, and I are from Bellingham, WA and will be dragged out to the midwest :( over the next few years for grad school.

After I finish, we are considering the panhandle as a place to settle. When I have breaks we will take ski trips to the area and I'm searching for beta/partners to ski some moderate <35deg terrain with us.

We have avy training and a few seasons of touring + mountaineering under our belts.

Hey Everyone,
My girlfriend and I have been living in SLC for almost the past decade. We are looking to move north to somewhere snowy and quiet. Excited to be part of the community.

Hey everyone! My names Noah I just moved to Missoula in June from New Hampshire and recently bought my first splitboard. Been riding for 15 ish years and very experienced in bounds and very excited about getting out into the bc. I’m taking my avy 1 in Feb until then looking to have some great low angle fun and get some experience on the skin track. Spent all summer peak bagging the bitterroots/clearwater and would love to explore the range in the winter, anyone in the area that’s looking for a partner let me know!
