Oh hey it's me, the noob.

Hey there,

My names Zak and I am super new to the backcountry world. I have a general understanding of all on paper... but nothing actually out in the field. I have spent the last two winters getting at least 10-15 morning touring up at Mt.Spokane. I love the fitness aspect to it all, but Im excited to use that fitness in the backcountry for fresh turns! I am taking an AIARE 1 in mid-january. I would love to have some folks let me tag along on some fun adventures in the backcountry. I have Sprinter Van and plenty of room to haul all the gear and people we can! Excited to be apart of this cool group of skiers and to send the gnar!

Well, now we have 2 "I's me the Noob"!!
Welcome.. Mt Spokane is definitely a great place to get an idea of the touring aspect due to less worry about avalanche terrain.
Do you have a converted Sprinter? Curious.. I vacillate with the idea of getting one and converting for all season use.

@PowderPanda
I'm only 20 and don't have $10,000 to convert it haha. I got a SCREAMING deal on one this summer and couldn't pass the opportunity. My plan is to get it built a little over the summer. I only have a bed in it right now. I love it with all my heart and am super excited for the use of it as a sleeper this winter. If you ever want to test drive one, hit me up.

Right on!! I'm happy that a 20yr old made a conscious decision not to buy a little sporty car and got something utilitarian!!! When you start your build out, please do a progression post (or if you have IG, would be rad to watch it).
I've known a few people that have done build outs... insane rides!

Appreciate it! My plan is to keep a log of everything I do with the van. Her name is "Large Marg" and she's out to get dirty and have fun!! HAH My instagram is @climber2626

Join me, other noob, and we shall spread our lack of knowledge for miles! (You're probably in way better shape than me if you've been up Mt. Spokane several times though)

Maybe we can find someone to take both of us up.

Hello noobs. I am also on the beginner end of the spectrum when it comes to practical experience in the backcountry. I have all of my avi gear and am comfortable with it, but I still need to go get my certification. Because of this I tend to stick to lower-risk terrain. If any of you would like to meet up and go for a tour at Mt. Spokane hit me up.

Also we should get some beacon practice going!

I would be interested in this! I'm currently finishing up my Avi Level one as well so I could show you some things. My schedule is going to be very hectic for the next few weeks so keep me in mind and invite me whenever you plan on going!

I have all of my equipment. And I've done some dry beacon training, but that's basically it. I am going to ski Mt.Spokane tomorrow and I'm free mid week mostly and work afternoons so keep me in mind if you want someone to tour with for a dawn patrol!
