Touring partners - moscow

Hey all, another touring partner thread. Recently moved to Moscow. I'm looking to do some touring around here (mostly weekends), seems like freezeout is the closest place. Avy 1, beacon, shovel, probe, airbag, no sled though. I've been touring regularly in the Colorado front range prior to moving here. Hoping to get the ski legs kicking again during the winter and find some exciting lines in the spring. Let me know if you want to get out!

Not sure if I’ll ever make it down that way to link up for a tour but I just wanted to say that your beer drinking profile pic with mt Wilson is awesome .

Thanks! Unfortunately the pic is on Conundrum, looking at Castle. I had plans to do Wilson, but I snapped the tail on that ski =(

I also live in Moscow, moved up here from Lake Tahoe last winter but was unable to do anything beyond cross country skiing. Would be down to check out Moscow Mountain when the snow gets better before taking the trip out to Freezeout.

Moscow Mountain gets the most snow in the vicinity, and keeps it pretty well given that it tops out at over 5k. However, since the last good snow down here in town, snow levels have been right around that 5000ft line, and driving out past Troy, the south facing slopes seem pretty bare.

All that being said, U of I Outdoor Program puts out a small guide that I picked up at HyperSpud and outlines the tours in the vicinity: see attached.

I also live in Moscow, and am excited to do some touring this winter. I have avy 1 and backcountry experience in the cascades. As soon as there’s decent snow I’ll be heading up to Moscow mountain, but will probably be going up to freezeout a lot over the next few weeks. Hit me up if you’re planning to head up there as well!
