  1. Hey Larry

Still looking for those pucks for the afterburners...
    More to the point though....
    The question of skins
    I have a voile swallowtail 190
    It's massive
    What skins to get?
    G3? Black diamond
    Synthetic
    Mohair?
    Hybrid?

    Hey FJordy.. welcome aboard!!
Hope you don't mind I moved this to Splitboard gear section.. It's a really good question actually!!

The brand I don;t think makes a huge difference, but I am very partial to G3's as I have used them for several years. No matter WHAT you decide to get, make sure you have tail clips on them, although I am not sure how to set that up on a swallow honestly.
Tail clips are imperative on any skins. It will make the difference between having a pain-in-the-ass-day or a sick day of riding!!

As for the decision fo type of fiber.. I personally don;t see a huge difference. I think the G3's are great as they dry pretty fast too. I have not used mohair before (one of the skiers on here may have more insite on that).

Also, PM me with your address and I'll sedn ya out a sticker!!

Backcountry.com had some self branded g3s long skins on sale for around 90+$ , ski skins but a bit of modding tip and tail will make 'em work.

Yep, just rebranded Alpinists as far as I can tell. Doesn't include the 'skin savers' but you can just store over the summer with the plastic that came with it if you're worried.

  6. I'm on the Backcountry Skins. Can't rate them enough, super grippy on Austrian Ice and dry rapido! Stored ours with the plastic they came with but got some 'Skin Savers' now, just I have to buy things.

Larry, you got any storms coming your way yet? It's green over here apart from very high altitude. Looks like it's cooling down this weekend with some precip, so going to be a very interesting base again this season!!
