POWDERHOUR SERIES is a monthly happy-hour gathering for the backcountry travel oriented folks to come together and glean insight from wise backcountry snow traveling folks in our community.

POWDERHOUR SERIES #3.1: Chugach Perspectives w/ Matt Kinney. Matt, a 40-year resident of snowy Valdez, Alaska and backcountry ski guide, gives a slide presentation and answer questions on some of the lessons he learned traveling in avalanche terrain by delving into four incidents over 4 decades in the Chugach Range near Thompson Pass, AK. A professional Member of the American Avalanche Association, his past includes a wide range of experience from avalanche and weather forecasting, avalanche education and publishing his book Backcountry Skiing: Valdez and Thompson Pass in 1998. Recently transplanted to Spokane, Matt is excited to share his experiences with locals and help skiers make good decisions in avalanche terrain.
