I'm looking into a tour from Schweitzer to a friend's off-grid cabin in the woods, via Bald Mountain. 13 miles from Schweitzer to the cabin, generally downhill. The goal is to have an overnight adventure in the back country; just wondering if our overnight could be at the cabin or more likely to be in the woods. Being new to back country touring, I'm not sure of how far the group could make it in a day. Lots of variables, I know. Initially, I'm thinking 13 miles to the cabin is a big day, but doable, even if we arrive in the dark.
