Backcountry Film Festival in Sandpoint, December 5th

Howdy Folks,

I wanted to personally invite each of you to join SOLE and Panhandle Backcountry to the 10th Annual Winter Wildlands Alliance Backcountry Film Festival in Sandpoint, Idaho on December 5th, 2014.

Each year Selkirk Outdoor Leadership & Education (SOLE) - a local 501(c)(3) experiential education non-profit - hosts this event to celebrate the coming of winter while raising critical funds for our Winter Wildlands Alliance SnowSchool -- currently hosted at Schweitzer Mountain. With an average poverty rate of 60 - 97 % for most youth in our public schools our needs are real. For many local area youth this is their only opportunity each winter to experience our local mountain and what this amazing backcountry has to offer. SOLE's SnowSchool Experience programming is unique in that we teach youth (grades 4th - 12th) snow science, winter ecology, and outdoor living and travel skills. Coursework also includes avalanche awareness and mountain safety components. Needless to say, for those that can't afford formal training these program offerings are an excellent way to develop awareness and spark future interest in snow sports, while addressing pertinent academic learning needs. We are aiming to serve well over 250 local area youth this winter, and with your support we are confident that we can offer these youth experiences which transform into future passions!

With 9 award-winning winter backcountry films, including Sweetgrass Productions Afterglow ON THE BIG SCREEN!, a killer Holiday Silent Auction from outdoor gear companies and local businesses including Big Agnes and G3, fantastic raffle prizes, and local brews this event is shaping up to be nothing short of great!

All event proceeds go directly towards on-snow programming and teaching materials.
With YOUR support we can make a difference for those that represent our future!
