There was an app (mtnhub) I used at one point that overlayed USGS maps and then you could filter Slope and aspect that was free. Do you guys use anything like that for planning?

I'm a big fan of Caltopo.. and I think slope and aspect is available on the free tier.

$20/yr if you find it useful, and allows the map/tile downloads.

HA that's the one I downloaded about an hr ago, seems close to what the other was, actually way more options
  4. The CalTopo used with Avenza is an awesome way to create and track your tour.

OnX hunt maps has a pretty useful aspect shading tool. I like to keep it simple and avoid app clutter and data pimping.

**BUMP** Mike and I found that the detail is better on Caltopo then most of the other apps as well.
