Skin Glue Removal

I usually use a wax iron with a paper shop towel or bag between iron and ski. Usually absorbs the glue into the paper after a few passes. If that doesn't work then base/citrus cleaner?

Anyone have a favorite way to remove from skins? I have to reglue tips and tails. I was thinking heat gun/metal scraper?

If glue is sticking to your skis, it's likely gone bad/contaminated. Flouro wax = bad for glue.

I use and old iron that I only use for glue and just reheat the old glue and it rejuvenates the glue. Works really well can be done at lest 5 or 6 times before a re-glue. I have a pair of pomoca skins I have had for 5 years just re did them this morning. I just use my iron and a cabinet scraper to remove the old glue on a complete re-glue.IMG_6994.JPG

I'm late to this thread, but I use newspaper or paper sack with the Iron like Snow Ghost. I never remove all the glue, just clean up, then re-glue with light coat of glue. My rock skis are probably 10+ years old (K2 World Piste) and they are the 3rd pair of skis I've used with this pair on Montana skins (purple with Euro Fix tip & tail). Conservatively 700? days on these skins and still going fine. (Cheap old ski bum...)

Hmmm.. I wonder if we can start having emoticon's on each post because of few of these made me giggle... only because I've done a full re-glue twice, although they worked.. not even as good as those for @oldguy

75% distilled water 25% isopropyl alcohol. Wipe, Scrape, brush repeat. If you use oil I would follow with the water/alcohol mixture. Oil attracts dirt.
