Early Season Instability reports

Hey folks…
Over the last 2 days I have had a friend from Albert who toured this weekend and another that toured in Wyoming (Togwotee Pass) who reported instability in the base layer. In Alberta Rockies, Rance reported a 100cm base with 6" of rotten faceted snow (consolidating). A column test done with a collapse at 4 from the elbow.
The pictures below were from another tourer that continued on without taking precautions.

In Wyoming, Chad reported that they had 5 slides on Togwotee Pass Friday and Saturday, North and West faces with 24" slabs.

Mike and I plan to get out this weekend to get some early season notes of snowpack which we will report.

Stay safe.. be aware.. Early season snow pack can cause issues if it doesn't consolidate with new snow!!
