Split Ultracraft

Wondering if any has any experience with the ultracraft split, basically can this be a one board to rule them all setup? (if anyone’s actually visiting, sees this,and has input on other boards—the opinions are welcome)Yes there’s freeride type boards, but in truth most trips will likely be pow hunting—high and low angle trees especially, snoqualmie/Stevens backcountry, glacier, Rainer, etc. But as I gain experience I’m looking to go after bigger mountain lines. Snow quality might not be great, or worse.
Likely to go phantom setup. It’ll probly be boots/bindings over board in terms of what’s more important for me to spend on. But I can get one board. Thanks

I’ve had two Ultracrafts and I’ve been riding phantoms for years. I broke them both and got horrible customer service from Jones. I ride the Amplid Millisurf split now. It’s my only board and has been used in every snow condition and used for year round turns. I couldn’t be happier with it. The top sheet is a little fragile and easy to scratch but the board is so light it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to deal with. The Millisurf topsheet is reinforced under though under the feet and was specifically designed for phantoms. The phantoms cut right into the ultra craft topsheet on my second one.

Thanks kpow—I was actually going to message you direct cause I thought you used to ride one, but when I went looking in your threads I only found a pic of your (carbon solution?). Panda kinda pointed me toward your threads on your boot setup/mods; that and further reading have convinced me I should just go hardboot from the start...
The millisurf’s cheaper than the jones as well

Yeah, I've ridden quite a few boards (and tried almost all the soft boot binding set ups) and to be honest, I need to do a better job about posting photos and trip reports. I did ride a Jones Carbon Solution for a while but I didn't like it. I wanted something better for powder. I switched to the Ultracraft and loved it initially. But I broke it on a traverse with ID Snowghost. I contacted Jones and was really unimpressed with their customer service. I ended up buying a second one and broke that one as well. Again, I was less than impressed with Jones. On the flipside, I have had great success with Amplid and their boards. I'm currently on my second Millisurf and still look forward to taking it out every time, regardless of the conditions I've encountered and the time of year. I will also continue to rave about going to a hard boot set up. I've yet to find a downside. I'll never ride soft boots again.

Wondering if you’re still running the tlt 6?
I found a pair but they might not be quite big enough. I’m going to post this as a general question as well for everyone, but have you run the speedfits? Im trying to avoid the atomics for price considerations but fit may force me into them

I finally wore out my TLTs and switched to the atomics at the start of last season. I have not been in the speedfits and I don’t have any experience with them. The benefit to the atomics is that once you buy Phantoms link lever, you don’t need to make any modifications. The dynafits typically require quite a bit of playing with to tune them in right. But you are right, all of that gets very expensive. What size are you looking for?

So, phantom got back to me I’m on the list for the for their boots. It looks like they work something out with atomic because those booths are basically atomics like it’s an atomic shell I’m certain of it. I think you might’ve asked me on a different thread what size I’m looking for, I plan on getting a proper fit this week to find out; But some Google searching tells me I’m probably going to be a 26 1/2 or 27 in Mondo

My soft boots from last year are 9 1/2; it took better than 20 days to get them broken and fitting nice—Need a different foot bed next time I bought aftermarket foot beds but these ones weren’t the best for my foot. My understanding is the boots I just mentioned are properly fit so I might actually be a 27.5 in Mondo But I have tofind out
