  1. Does you group have the skills, knowledge and training to travel in avalanche terrain?
  2. Are you carrying beacons, shovels and probes?
  3. Can you self-rescue? Do you have a plan?
  4. Do you know the emergency number?
  5. Have you checked the current avalanche advisory and weather forecast?
  6. Have you checked out with someone?
  7. Do you have any other route options?

Good reminder as the resorts are closing early and more may venture into backcountry areas.

Please know before you go! The backcountry is never completely “safe”.
